Is it for me? Is it a right career path?
The Embedded systems field is poised for a huge growth throughout the world. In the consumer segment alone there are 2 billion embedded devices are hitting the market every year. This is providing a huge opportunity to various organizations to come up with new innovative embedded products. From an individual's point of view, if you have an affinity and passion towards building Futuristic Products, Gadgets in the areas of home automation, Industries like Telecom, Networking, Aeronautics, Manufacturing and activities that will drive day to day life, Embedded Systems is the career path. Any academic background like B.E, B.Tech, M.E, M.Tech, Msc(IT, Elns, CS), MCA is sufficient for getting into the Embedded domain as long as the individual is having the passion to build next generation products.

What are the different career paths I can have in Embedded if I take up the training?
Our ‘Embedded Systems and Systems programming’ course consists of six modules in which the C and Data-structures form the ‘core’ part of the Embedded Systems. The remaining modules (TCP/IP Network programming, Real Time Operating Systems, Linux device drivers and Micro controllers) provide a framework understanding of various aspects of embedded systems. These framework understanding will lead to almost all industry needs. The following diagram depicts the same.

What about career shift to embedded domain for working technology professionals?
We have seen multiple instances in the past where working professionals (say for example in the application domain) want to switch to embedded systems domain. It is quiet possible to switch over to embedded systems domain but it needs to be done step by step. As a first step, professionals need to get the required skills to become a technically sound embedded system professional. This could be achieved by taking the course we offer which will provide a very good platform. By doing projects provided by us will definitely add value to the resume. In the second step is making a switch, which could be achieved via two ways:

  • If the organization is big and having projects related to embedded domain, professionals can try for internal job transfer. As the necessary skills are already acquired, professionals can very well attend internal job interviews.
  • If the organization doesn't have project or support internal job transfer then outside opportunities can be worked out. By presenting the interviewer about the course modules and project offered by Emertxe will definitely intimate the interviewer that you are keen on the embedded domain and have already put effort in that area.

What about career shift to embedded domain for working non-technical professionals?
We define non-technical professional as people who are working in the knowledge industry but belong to different streams like sales, technical support, marketing, call-centre, BPO and technical documentation. These professionals also got a pretty good chance to shift to embedded domain by going through our course. During hiring process organizations will give value for your past experience but it varies from one organization to another. But the past experience will add value for sure.

Where do Emertxe see their trained students at the end of the course?
At the end of the course we would expect the student to operate in a different level with clear understanding on various areas of embedded systems. We expect them to be excellent in programming skills with hands on experience in multiple technologies, tools and projects. This scales their confidence level to a different plane and will be in a position to work on any industry projects.

What kind of projects and assignments will I be given?
Our course work is completely practical and hands on based methodology. In each module students will get assignments and projects to work with. Generally the assignments complexity is built on an incremental basis as and when the module is progressing. At the end of the course students will be given projects based on their performance in the assignments. The project and assignments are medium complexity which would give a good exposure to the subject. With that students would be able to take up any real time industry project without any problem.
